About Us
Hollywood Hair Extensions is the brainchild of Susie Smith, an entrepreneur, community organizer and stylist to the stars. Susie owns two Makin’ Waves salons in Southern California, one in Huntington Beach and one in Los Angeles, where she offers hair extension classes through her company, Hollywood Hair Extensions.
“I love sharing my knowledge with others, and I’ve developed this business over several years. I am thrilled to pieces to offer these classes and to certify cosmetologists from my salon in the heart of Los Angeles.”

Susie started in the beauty world doing hair and nails in 1988, but it wasn’t long before she fell in love with hair extensions. She is certified and proficient in eleven different hair extension systems: Great Lengths Thermal, Great Lengths Cold Fusion, Hair Dreams, Cinderella Hair, Mega Tips, Hot Heads, Hair Locks, NXS, Pro Hair, Dome of London, Seamless/Invisible skin wefts and Micro links. She teaches her students to work with women and men of all ages and backgrounds and helps them become fluent with both short and long hairstyles.
Susie has worked on numerous celebrities, rock stars, actresses and models and is equally at home in the salon or on movie and music video sets. She’s worked backstage at concert venues, on tour buses, and behind the scenes at TV shows.
“It’s been a blast working with the celebrities. When Courtney Love had the infamous scene where she jumped on David Letterman’s desk and removed her top back in 2004, well, I did her extensions! Quite a challenge as you can imagine, considering what was going on in her life at the time. I had to quickly transform her neglected locks into beautiful hair and I had to do it fast.
I originally did her extensions back in 2003 and she called me back a year later and said it was the best set of extensions she ever had. Since 2005 I’ve also been the personal hair stylist of Dale Bozzio, the lead singer of the band Missing Persons. I’ve done her hair for all of her concerts and tours since then.”

But Susie does not only spend time with celebrities and rock stars. She also offers special, private consultations for people who have extreme hair loss conditions. At Hollywood Hair Extensions, all students benefit from Susie’s extensive experience in the beauty industry and from her client-focused philosophy. This philosophy ensures that her students have continuing success servicing clients from all walks of life and with all hair conditions.
